THE third edition of the Malaysia Fashion Week was a glamourous affair which showcased the diversity of the local fashion and lifestyle industry.

Themed ‘Fashion Inclusivity’, more than 100 designers showcased their masterpieces on the runway. Visitors also had the chance to admire trendy street wear, evening gowns and dresses, modern batik, and modest wear alongside accessories, beauty and hair products, at 308 exhibition booths.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) chairman Datuk Noraini Ahmad opened the gala dinner which kicked off the three-day event.

“We at Matrade together with our partners STYLO International and Mercedes Benz, are pleased and proud to once again play host to the many local and international fashion delegates at Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre.”

“The biggest fashion and lifestyle event in the country, Malaysia Fashion Week is one of our key projects,” she said.

Lending grace to the glitzy gala dinner at the Fashion Cube at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre was Raja Perempuan Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid who officiated the event.

Malaysia’s much-adored shoe couturier Datuk Jimmy Choo has played a big role in the previous editions of the fashion week as the honorary advisor, but was unable to make it this year due to family commitments.

“I’ve been a big supporter of the Malaysia Fashion Week since day one. I’ve seen many young talents being discovered on this wonderful platform,” he said.

Designer Jo Disaya earned the exclusive Datuk Jimmy Choo Award for fashion, gaining the title of ‘Next Designer of the Year’.
